Big Red M Joins Forces with ABWA to Strengthen and Grow the Organization
Big news: Big Red M has acquired ABWA Management, the company overseeing the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA). This move sets the stage for ABWA’s next chapter, one focused on strengthening operations, enhancing member experiences, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
A New Era for ABWA
With this transition, Elizabeth H. Johnson, CAE, steps in as ABWA’s new Executive Director. With 20+ years of experience in association management, Johnson has a strong track record in membership growth, strategic development, and leadership. Her expertise, combined with Big Red M’s resources, will help expand ABWA’s reach and impact.
“ABWA is a powerful force for women in business, and I am honored to lead the organization into this next phase,” said Johnson. “With Big Red M’s support, we will expand ABWA’s reach, enhance its programs, and strengthen our community to create even greater opportunities for our members.”
Outgoing Executive Director M. René Street also emphasized the importance of this transition:
“Big Red M stood out as the best fit to help ensure ABWA’s continued success and impact. Their commitment to growing associations aligns with ABWA’s mission of supporting America’s businesswomen.”
What This Means for ABWA Members
For over 75 years, ABWA has been a hub for leadership, networking, and professional development for women in business. With Big Red M stepping in, members can expect:
- New initiatives to enhance engagement and professional growth
- Expanded chapter development to strengthen local networks
- A broader reach to connect even more women nationwide
Members will continue to meet monthly within their chapters, and the next big national event is just around the corner, the Women’s National Leadership Conference in Portland, Maine, from November 12-15.
Looking Ahead
At Big Red M, we’re passionate about helping associations thrive. By partnering with ABWA, we’re reinforcing our commitment to building strong, sustainable organizations that serve their members effectively. This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for ABWA and its incredible community.
