Everyone has their idea of organization. What it looks like and how it feels. There are a ton of tools available – apps, websites, planners, calendars, etc.…. all are designed to keep you organized. The hard part is figuring out which one works best for you. It could be a combination of all the above.
I’ve found it helpful to talk with others about how they stay organized during the day and I’ve pieced together my personal strategy:
I start the week off with a big sheet of blank paper. It literally covers my work space and my laptop sits in the middle. I write out each client I will be working with that week and leave plenty of room for notes. This sheet helps me all week by providing a place to jot down notes, ideas, phone numbers, and action items as they occur for each client. As I complete the various tasks, I mark them off. It doesn’t sound like much, but its pretty rewarding at the end of the week to see everything marked off.
On Friday afternoon, I snap a picture, so I can refer to my notes and activities later if needed.
The point is – don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works for you.
