Our question: if someone was going to start their own business as an entrepreneur, what do you think is the first most important thing to do?
Hey, this is easy because I’ve been through it. The first thing is be ready to be the number one sales person for a very long time. I think a lot of folks had great ideas, they’re practitioners in certain parts of their industry and they’re going to roll out a service company to do that. And you know what they forget? Who’s going to get the business. You’re going to have to set up an organization that primarily, you’re going to be the main sales person for a very long time. So be prepared to assume that role and if you’re not prepared to do that, just keep working for somebody else. Because, I’m telling you, that’s going to be a major driver if you’re going to able to get out the gate quickly and effectively. You’ve got to develop those sales skills, whether you like it or not, folks, that is a key to entrepreneurship and that’s the first thing that I would think about.
