Hello there and welcome to another episode of Ask JP. The question today is, what are you thankful for?
I am thankful for opportunity. Since this is a business podcast, I want to talk about that. There is so much opportunity that exists in this country. Will Rogers, that great Oklahoman, and American said, “America is a land of opportunity, and don’t ever forget it.” Ralph Waldo Emerson, the liturgist, “America is another name for opportunity.” And that racecar driver, Bobby Unser, “success is where preparation meets opportunity.” They aren’t talking about opportunities in other places around the globe.
People are sacrificing their lives to get into this country. You can argue about what they’re coming here to do, but I can guarantee you the opportunity and a chance is what they’re here for. It’s the incredible gift of living in this nation and it still exists.
The opportunity to start something, raise capital, make your dreams come true, execute a business, develop a bond and friendship, give others a chance, hire people, learn from each other and other businesses, receive advice and whether to take it or not. The opportunity to fail, and rely on systems and people to catch you if you do. The opportunity to succeed and reap the benefits of that. Then take that success and have the marketplace take that company, buy it, and then go the extra mile for it, while opening up more possibilities and opportunities to the team members that helped make that company successful.
That is what I’m thankful for in this time, at this time, this year, and in this country…the opportunity in the United States of America. Those are my thoughts for you today. I hope you have a great holiday. Best wishes.
We’d love to connect with you!
